Friday’s Atlanta Moon Ride Is a Party on Wheels… For a Good Cause

Ever wished you could bike your way through Midtown, Little 5 Points, Old Fourth Ward, and Virginia-Highland without fear of being flattened by a speeding SUV? Ever thought it would be even more fun if you could do it in a ridiculous costume while supporting a great cause? Then tomorrow night is your dream come true. The third annual Atlanta Moon Ride is a 6.5-mile bike ride along a route that is closed to motorized traffic and the 100 percent of the proceeds supports Bert’s Big Adventure, a local nonprofit that provides all-expenses-paid trips to Disney World for kids with chronic and terminal illnesses and their families.

The ride starts at 10 p.m., but live entertainment, food trucks, and other fun pre-ride activities start at 6 p.m. in Piedmont Park. Participants are “encouraged to ride with flair,” so bust out those glowsticks and dinosaur costume you’ve got sitting around. Prizes for best costume will be awarded at the Park Tavern after-party. Registration is $35, all of which goes to Bert’s Big Adventure.
