Even at this time of year, Atlanta has plenty of active, fun activities to keep you moving and burn off those holiday cookies. From festive 5Ks to family ice skating to a walk through the Botanical Garden’s holiday light spectacular, here are this week’s best events.
Monday, December 22
Deck out your mountain bike to join Tour De Lanta’s Jingle Ride. The 22 to 24 mile route takes off from West Midtown Corner Tavern at 6:45 p.m.
Tuesday, December 23
Cover a lot of real estate at the 11:30 a.m. Kickin’ Butt, Legs, and Arms class at Urban Body Fitness. Check out the gym and all of its class offerings by signing up for a free one-week trial.
Wednesday, December 24
Squeeze in some stretch time before the holidays hit at Tough Love Yoga’s yogahour. The one-hour class starts at noon and is $10 to drop-in.
Thursday, December 25
Need to escape the house for a little fresh air? Pack up the kiddos and head to the open-air ice skating rink at Atlantic Station. Open through February 15, hours on Christmas Day are 3 to 11 p.m. $13 for adults, $10 for children, seniors, students, and military.
Friday, December 26
Introduce out-of-town guests to the Atlanta BeltLine during the weekly Arboretum Walking Tour. Meet behind Parish Restaurant at 9:45 a.m. with a docent from Trees Atlanta for a little learnin’ and strollin’. It’s free but registration is required.
Saturday, December 27
Work off the holiday cookies with the Peachtree Corners Christmas 5K & 10K. The race starts at 8:30 a.m. The Peachtree Corners Rotary will be collecting warm winter coats for kids in the community. $30 for the 5K and $35 for the 10K.
Sunday, December 28
Oooooh and aaaaaaaah at the Atlanta Botanical Garden Nights Holiday Lights display with a walking tour through the “electrical extravaganza,” which runs nightly from 5 to 10 p.m. through January 11. Non-member adult admission ranges from $17 to $20, depending on the night.
